What luxury can I not live without? That’s the question that’s been posed. My answer? Well, there’s NO luxury that I can’t live without.

I’m a solo momma, and sole caregiver to my autistic son… luxury doesn’t enter the equation. Why? Because, my son’s needs and wants, will always come before mine. I will always put him first. He is my #1 priority…my purpose…my reason for choosing to live, for fighting to live after the horrific injuries that threatened to take my life.

So, no… there’s not a luxury I can’t live without. My son, he’s a necessity for my life. I can not live, without knowing he’s safe. I can not live without him. I would (and did), sacrifice anything, for him. I will do without, to do for him. I would lay down my life, for him.

There’s nothing I can’t live without…except my child. He’s 25, 6’2″, 250lbs and can not care for himself. He’s brilliant, creative, talented…yet, he would walk right out into traffic, unaware of his surroundings until it’s too late. He needs watching and he needs understanding and patience…he needs his momma. And , I need him; I’m not even sure who the hell I would be, if I wasn’t his momma. I would be nothing.

I need no luxury. I have all I need, as long as I can care for my child.

That is my answer.
